Thread: Why can't I make a good crafting tool? Even one with a positive stat would be nice !

make sure you are standing next to a "Weapon, Droid and General Item Crafting Station", as well as using a "Weapon, Droid, and General Item Crafting Tool". amd not a "Generic Crafting Tool"

Using a Generic crafting tool will not let you experiment on your product.

If you look at the requred stats for materials I beleive it says Con, is importtant. Which means the higher the Con of the metal your using the higher the qualitiy of the tools/ I've used some 900 Con Copper and have made several +13.47 Tools. Look for any metals with a con above 900 to get the best results.

This is why grinding is a Bad Thing. But yes, it is because you need to experiment on the tool ... which requires a specialized crafting tool and a crafting station of some sort.

Just to pound it to your head some more

You say you're standing next to a station, ok, good. You need a specialized crafting tool. So make weapon/droid/general crafting tool, rating of -8.95 or whatever, then use this new tool to make another weapon/droid/general crafting tool. You should be able to experiment on it now, and get positive rating on your tool.

You don't need a private crafting station.

I pumped out a few 14.3 tools yesterday I believe.

That ruled, heh.

I'm a Nov Doc/Master Artisan on Infinity, fairly new player, especially to Artisan.

What's bugging me is that the best generic or other crafting tool I made is mnus 8.95 efficiency. That was using the highestconductivity copper I've found, in about 4 or 5 weeks of playing.

I never get the opportunity to experiment on my tools, & my original generic crafting tool (efficiency 0) was sold way back when.

Seems a bit of a bummer that at Master Artisan I can't make a tool better thtan what I started with.

I suspect that the loquality of my tools is keeping down the quality of my (still pretty **edit** good) stims.

Am I doing something stupidly wrong, or have I just not found a copper with a very hi quality as well as very hi conductivity? Or, am I expecting too much?

I'm crafting beside the General Crafting station, btw, do I need to (try to) borrow the use of a better private crafting station?

You may need a better crafting station

What is the quality of your tool you are currently using?

How many experimentation points are you getting?

the only stat that matters is con. You need to make a better tool first with your starter tool. Then make a better one after that.

At a public or private crafting station. Droid with crafting station will also work. I think I have made some +14.x with copper at a CON of 998

Have copper at 990 conductivity. I use statless(con) chem for the combine, and am getting 14.40 rating after full experimentation. I made a schematic and am running 50 to sell on my vendor (Structure). Will make a run on all types tonight.

Best rate I have gotten on a crafting station so far is 23.41 I need some good OQ items for the subs. Best rate on my subs is around 86%. Bah!

I have some copper that is 962 co and I make +14.61 tools all of the time. I think the co of both is needed. I don't remember what the co of the Steel is that I use.
I do experiment 2 boxes at a time, not the whole bar at once.
Every time I find better copper I make myself better tools. If anyone has some 1000 copper, and lives on Tat on Ahazi let me know!!!

Yeah, I have a 14.64 made with 998 CON metal. I had two, but one got zapped by death decay.

Why does this happen? What's the reason to punish crafters like this? If I want to leave my armor uninsured in the field only to have it fall apart on me, I'm certainly not going to craft a new set in the field. So why the penalty?

And why penalize surveying tools at all? Is it to prevent people from surveying in the hinterlands naked without any risk to their items? I don't get it.

Not sure what my local guys uses, but he gives me 15.00 tools. I have heard this is a perfect rating.

He sells those very fast.
