I was told the lack of vehicle repair kits on my server is due to a lack of the resources needed to make them. I am a land surveyor, but how do I mine asteroids? What ship/components do i need?

You need any player ship equipted with a cargo hold, mining laser, and an optional tractor beam. Then go shoot some rocks in space.

I don't remember the requirements for the mining laser or tractor beam off hand but i don't think they were all that high.

Just took another skim thru his guide (brilliant stuff, btw...wish I had the patience to write it all out like that lol)

I'd also advise that you do the Y-8 mining ship quest. It'll start you on the path to getting your very own Y-8 ship, but will also give you a mining laser, cargo hold and tractor beam for free.

It also takes you step-by-step through the process of space mining.
