One of my alts is an Artisan who is a bit of a wanderer on Naboo and doesn't intend to own a shop or harvesters because it's all such work.

Is there any hope in continuing the "Do-It-Yourself" mining and building anymore, or is it all conglomerates?

Face it, if you want to make a profit selling items in a market stuffed with top quality items, youre gonna have to work a bit for a living. No customer wants to have to spend time looking for a custom order for artisan items that they can find in abundance in well stocked vendors. Especially if their artisan refuses to use harvestors, replying "ill have your bike ready in 6 years when ive sampled the required resources". You may get the odd custom schematic order, but if you ask me, the amount of cost (in terms of skill points, time, money for 2nd account) to reward is not high enough. Frankly this situation only arises because the SWG economy is a good model of a "real world" economy. Travelling merchants only work in the real world when they have high value innovative products to sell.

However, conglomerates are at the other end of the scale. I am making a good living as architect/artisan by harvesting all of my own materials (using harvestors), and selling on a private vendor. The harvesting only takes up at most an hour of my time every 2 days.
