Thread: Master Artisan, the Welfare profession?

As a person who doesnt have any Artisan skill points but who does harvest resources I can say that I dont think you should worry too much. When I drop a harvestor to see whats in the ground unless the effieciency is high or the stats are high I just move on. Since I would just be wandering around constantly dropping it to hope I raise the effieciency(sp?). I rarely ever get lucky on that good run. Only twice now have I hit the gold mine so to speak. Duralloy and Vertex. Both will go to my guild armorsmith.
I mainly wonder how the market would be if guys like me didnt hunt for the odd resource. I dont sell mine of course.. I use it for what medical/scout crafting I may need. Or, I do hook up my Armorsmith when I can. But otherwise I dont make "that" much money off of it.
I appreciate your response but the fact still remains that if you were to kill a fambaa for example could you harvest one unit for the kill without being a scout(15 skill points) in fact you cant even milk the creature until you have mask scent ability. most non-crafters in your position have thierguildmates send them awp to theresources. although there are some whoare minig sparringly because they have no skills to locate most mineto their hearts contentharvesting both mineral/flora and creature resources only needing to be ascout to do so where as many of us like me for example are true crafters (master artisan/merchant/chef) with no more skill points to spare for the luxury of harvesting creature resources i haveto buy my chef supplies that are expensive to say the least. so as you can see there is a definite problem here. again if one has to sacrifice 15 skill points to harvest creature resouces one should have to do the same to harvest any other resource especially when cut directly into a profession that was aimed at collecting resources

I completely sympathize with you guys on this one. I for one dont like harvesting resources since to me... its boring. I initially did it when I was low level with plenty of skill points to use and sold whatever I could get on the Bazaar for easy money to all the holo grinders. I was just out hunting for grinding product for my guild leader since he wants to make his alt a Weaponsmith as well. Otherwise I prolly wouldnt mess with it. I just lucked into two good spawns in a row.
Honestly, your thoughts ring true to my ears as if they were being spoken from a Ranger point of view. I, being a former Ranger was just disappointed at howanyone with Master Scout or just 0-0-4-0 could outharvest us since they had more points to devote to combat skills. I see alot ofpeople talking about going out to hunt for more hides/meat and just know that they too are novice scout along with their combat profession able to make my former profession pretty useless since killing faster dominates a 30%harvesting bonus. And now with harvesting droids its even worse.
Granted not even using 15 skill points I can still harvest resources but its very touch and go. I honestly believe that most of the resources you see on the market arent from dabblers like myself.
Heh, and if you were able to get everything but Personal harvestors certed into your profession I think the Jedi would pitch a fit. lol. They already want to be able to harvest creature resources as well. ![]()
I think it would only make sense to make all harvesters a cert in the Artisan profesion. Maybe the personal mineral extractors with nivice, and work your way up. I meen, it would be easy to explain, In order to operate any machinery, you have to be trained in its use first. I meen, can anyone drive a stick-shift car? I was trained on it. Some people have never driven anything but an automatic, and some have never driven at all! Now apply that to the harvesters, how is someone who doesent know anything about it going to operate them? Actually, a better example would be Real-Life harvesters, you know, the ones that farmers drive. How many of you can drive one of those, and harvest stuff with it? I know I couldn't. I wouldn't have a clue. The Certifacation on placing harvesters and operating them, could so easily be included in the surveying skill tree. Not even any need to start a new tree, or make a new proffession. Could even include factories in it. or maybe those should be restricted to the elite proffesions that use that particular factory, ie Tailor using the wearables factory. I think Incorporating certs on the harvesters into the surveying skill tree only makes sense.

Good luck on getting some change on this.
BTW, Glad to have a nice discussion/debate. I figured I would get flamed royal for posting. ![]()
Have you checked through Test Center? Perhaps they have done something similar in the past. Seems like they tried everything from time to time.
