um an artisan is an artisan... To clarify, I guess, It is the basic crafting profession. An artisan is usually a title for someone who is proficient in some sort of craft.

very well said...in game terms its the profession you would start out with if you wanted to go on to craft the majority of the in game items such as weapons, buildings, clothing, droids and the like
