Thread: Wierd backpack

I have noticed on my character that my backpack does NOT reach full when at 50 of the 50 alloted spaces.. it lets me put 54 items into it before it gives me an error... I haven't dared leave those extra 4 items in for any length of time, and I only discovered it by accident while carrying lots of stuff....

Does anyone know of this happening elsewhere? or could this be related to the socket issue with backpacks?

Huh, that is weird, I'll have to check that. And the socket thing sounds reasonable, do you have 4 sockets on the pack? And is this an equipped pack, or one you're using for storage in a house?

Another thing: do you have any satchels or cargo pockets in the pack? How about unlocked containers? Those are supposed to add towards the pack count (and do, as far as I've noticed), but maybe it's calculating wrong or missing some items in the sub-containers.

I do not know the socket count as I had the epiphany about the sockets while at work... I have a single cargo pocket with 20 items in it in the pack... the pack is equiped on my toon... I am planning on checking the socket count tonight when I log on to see if it correlates..

Normally I just stop putting stuff in when I reach the 50 limit, but the other day I was distracted and kept going til i got the message and realized it was +4... now that I started thinking about the socket bug I am going to do more testing... maybe dump all my contents (valuable stuff to me ) someplace safe and put 54 items of junk in and log out for the night to see if anything vapors

Sigh, it doesn't seem to be the socket thing..

It has two sockets. the backpack on my other toon has two sockets and does NOT exhibit this behavior.

When clicking on the backpack, the info in the pane on the left says it has 46/50 items in it. When visually inspecting the backpack in the inventory the "item size" number that is on the corner of the icon shows 50

I have a single cargo pocket in the backpack, with 20 items in it. I did not have a chance to itemize and count the filling of the items in the pack, I will do that tonight..

Unfortunately it just looks like a visual bug at this time.. sigh..

What's the deal with sockets anyhow. I make travel packs with 0-4 sockets depending on materials, but what does the socket value give you?

I had a friend of mine who was able to put over 60 objects in her pack.

I do not think this is a real problem though. just be glad and use the extra slots. She still has hers and is happy about it since she is a packrat.

We tried removing everything and placing all new stuff in it and even that worked so it is just a bug I guess.

This is a guess and only a guess, but it appears that someone was playing with experimentation on backpacks and some of the code made it into live. Find a taylor and try this out. do it with old unexperimented packs and try again iwth new experimented packs. See what happens.

Are some of the items in there crates?

I've noticed that when storing crates in a backpack or bank they seem to register as multiple items on the display but only count as 1 item for actual storage
