I picked up a mission at an artisan mission terminal - the repair the trash compactor one. The instructions stated that I had to locate a deposit of a gas at 53 efficiency. I found a gas source at 67% and mined a bit. The mission did not complete. What's up? Do I have to find a specific gas? No gas type was listed in the mission. What do I have to do?

Yes there can be more specific types of gas even if not a specific gas name. The 2 kinds are Inert Gas and Reactive Gas. As long as the mission is for the same type as the deposit you found it should work; however, you do have to be at least 1024 meters from the mission terminal. Thus if the 67% denisty gas deposit is too close to the terminal then the mission will not complete. Someother things to note about artisan missions is that you do not actually have to sample any of the resource, you just have to locate the deposit with a survey, and where you are standing when you do the survey is the location compared to the mission requirements, so you have to be 1024 meters away and standing at a point on the survey map which is higher than the density required by the mission and then do a survey for the correct resource type and you should get the credit reward and completion. Plus to get the highest paid artisan missions you have to have some weapon skills and have your respective weapon equipped. The highest paying artisan missions pay 1800 credits for a 70% density deposit of arequested mineral/gas/chemical.

You should be able to see your current distance from the mission terminal in your chat box if you are too close, as it will give you a message of 'you have to be 1024m away from the mission giver, and you are only Xm away' but if you're having trouble with this piece of artisan missions you can make a waypoint for the mission terminal and use the onscreen waypoint monitor.

Just my thoughts, do with them what you will.

THANKS! The 1024 meters limit was the key.
