Thread: Is there a pre-req for running a factory?

I only ask because I bought a merchant tent today, went to set it up and found I need Merchant IV 
Now Im stuck with a pricy peice of leather, and I dont want to end up with a pricey piece of metal.

No. As long as you have a schmatic and the resouces needed by the schmatic, the factory will make the item. Dosen't matter where you got the schmatic.

Right, so its like a mineral harvester or power gen? Just buy it, plop it down and fill it with power, materials and a schematic, and wala stuff comes poping out.

Yes , but be aware, as I just found out from my first factory, Schematics are very specific!!!
If you are making 1000 of something and run out of a resource half way IT MUST BE EXACTLY THE SAME TYPE, spawn ,OQ etc..
I ran out of aluminium, but it had respawned and the new stuff was not recognized.
If this happens you must make a new schematic b4 you can continue.
