Thread: Why are there no cargo vehicles?

I wonder if cargo vehicles will ever be an option in this game?



As Master Artisans, we are allowed to make vehicles forgettingto places faster. But i'm also master Chef / master Armorsmith, and a vehicle that would carry 100 crates of food items, 100 crates of PuP'sor 10 suits of armor to analternate vendor location would be a dream come true.


I played Ultima Online for a long time, and Pack mulesmade movingeasy.They could carry 1600 lbs, andin the beggining you could use as many as you wanted although they nerfed that down to being able to control only 2.


Does anyone know if this topic has been brought up before?.


What are your thoughts on this?..

There has been talk of adding options to our vehicles by everyone but the devs. As the X34 makes the most sense with this. Its the slowest of our vehicles as well as the largest.

The biggest agreed addition would be a survey module that you could use while on the move or at least while mounted. And storage is a close second

List of upgrades i want


1, droid interface, help my R2 link up and survey, master artisan made. Takes EMM and control units.


2 passenger seat, gotta have a seat for my girl.. i think we could handle these, a nice master artisan thing


3, shield generator, Im tired of maulers taking pot shots at me as i go riding by. Sure this would make my ride need a upgraded reactor, and probly a larger battery. this would be armorer made.


4, a storage trunk, this would be like a droid storage, 10 items would use existing droid storage modules


make this like starships. Give us slots to put in upgrades. Maybe 6 slots for a landspeeder. Other possiblilies could be a


data pad or main computer holds data schems.


crafting station. think of it as a mobile tool kit.


Surgical, think of it as a amblance. Docs could ride around the battle field healing up troops. That would sure be fun taking out his ride : P


fire supression, maybe a doc use. Sorta like a fireblanket. Got a fire hose? This would load up like stim packs or traps indroids, Think of it as a fireblanket dispencer but the vehicle give a bonus to use


Turbo. I need some boosters on my speeder. Would work just like a booster on a starship


Handling up grades. This would make turning better, possibly acceleration


armor, Any combat landspeeder or speederbike should have armor right?




A lot of these items are already in the game.and could bring in a slight combat advantage to using vehciles and up the starwarsy feel. there where always lots of vehicles in starwars why not in SWG. This way of using modules would let players upgrade as they see fit. Possibly need an aritsan to install. sorta like how stimpacks are loaded into droids. This would also give other classes some neat new things to make. Also would make vehilces much more interesting.


Combos would be trade offs and maybe a mass system would be used instead of item limits. Obvoiusly landspeeders the most, and swoops the least, Disabled vehciles would still allow you to retrieve data, or storage items. Perhaps you could even repair stuff via artisan skills, and of corse repair kits and possibly a droid.

we need more vehicles. period. How about a T-47 airspeeder towing a small cargo barge? it would be somewhat big (think total size would be more than an AV-21) but only as fast as the landspeeder, and could hold 100 items.


I think the devs had a problem with letting people have moving things that hold items.

Yeah be careful of asking for items with large storage. Since the yacht takes 1 lot for its 75. But id be just as happy if a vehicle could even hold 10 items from droid storage devices.

Having a wider variety of vehicles would be fun, and the cargo vehicle would be soo helpful. Good idea.

Really Master Artisan should have the option to add modules to our vehicles. Just like DEs, except these modules would be more vehicle like so as not to directly compete with DE droids.


-Storage Module (10 item max per module, would be ok if had to acquire from a DE)

-Terrain Navigation Package (+5 terrain nav per module)

-Illumination (I know its goofy might just make finding your ride easier at night)

-Survey Modules: Chem, Mineral, Floral, Wind, etc.


Now to balance it out you would have to have limits to the amount of modules per vehicle. The ones we have now probably would be limited to one mod or none.


Essentially it would require a revamp to how we build vehicles. The mechanics are already there, as evidenced by the AV21. But creating vehicles really should be a multi step process. Chasis, Drive train, Doo-dads, whatever.


I would really like to see this, nothing more boring than simply gathering 6000 resources and building a speeder And for the life of me I cant figure out why it wasnt in the game from the begining, I mean vehicles came in fairly late I remember when we got them.


Really this would add a lot of quality crafting to the Artisan Profession, it would be fun.


None of these would directly compete with a DE, simply because a vehicle costs more than an MSE with a storage mod.

It is my hope that during our post Combat Upgrade revamp we will see a revamp of vehicles which will include these sorts of features.
