Greetings, friends...
As some of you may be aware, as part of the upcoming combat revamp, the devs are creating a "Sandbox Server" where a group of focused testers will be working in cooperation with the devs and QA teams to test and balance all parts of the combat system in SWG. This Sandbox Server will not be open to the public.
Each Correspondent has been asked to identify five skilled and focused players to participate in the testing on the Sandbox. I now ask you, Artisans, if you are interested, and able to help test the combat revamp to PM (Private Message) me with your application. Tell me your experience in game (as an Artisan), your desire and experience in testing, and whether or not you'll have the time to devote to it.
Things I don't know:
- When we need to have the five selected by
- What roles Artisans will have on the Sandbox aside from making starter weapons
- When the Sandbox will be open for business
I'll update this as I learn more.
UPDATE
The team has been picked and is at work. The team is:
- Animi
- Chaosium_451
- Star_Ranger
- Korlan
- Cafa
Thanks,
Guru

Hi,
this may sound stupid, but what has an Artisan to do with Combat-Revamp? Will we get a Scredriver-Gun?
I would understand if this would be GCW, but Combat Revamp?
Would be nice if you could give a bit more Info.
Thx.

That'd be addressed by point two in my "Things I don't know" part above.
Of course, artisans have plenty of skill points to do a combat prof too....

Perhaps new weapons will be added. Or old one's will be revamped.

Exactly.
Armor and weapons are going to be revamped as well, so our venerable bone armor, CDEF, and starter melee weapons will need to be recrafted many times in the sandbox to try out various things.
And to clarify something, it is expected that the five (plus myself) Artisan testers will actually be Artisans on the test box.
We can certainly participate in other testing as well, but we need to make sure we represent our items and skills well.
Take care,
Guru

on the architects forum, they are hoping for the long awaited ability to fling structural blocks at the enemy... maybe artisans will make the catapults?

Any word on when this will be happening, or which volunteers have been accepted?

Hey Guruweaver,
I will throw my hat in for the testing.
I been an Artisan from since beta, so i have seen the ups and mostly downs of the profession. I been a master most of the time, never hologrinded it so i made at least one of every item. Can't remember how many times i made the birdcage wondering what to do with it and how to get a bird inside.
I would like to see Master artisan a viable profession other than to make speeders and an item requirement for elites.
My Master Artisan is on Bria, but it wouldn't be much effort to make one of mine on TC an master artisan either. Two are going that direction anyways.
