I was just thinking last night this would be a good feature. Mount that fish that I caught, or put weapons on display.

Things like clothes will "float" or "stand" by themselves when you drop them. Jackets float at torso height, helmets float at head height, boots just stand on the ground. My shop is decorated with lots and lots of clothes in this manner.

Will droids stay in a shop and not disappear? I was hoping to open a droid shop and I thout it would be really neat to have droids cluttering the shop. Is that possible?

Yeah, but how can you get a gun to stick on the wall? I'll mine are on the ground :/

I'm a weaponsmith, not a backpacksmith.

For guns and other objects there's a trick;

Stand on stairs in your house, drop the item, then move it around. The item will float in the air at the height of the stair it was set on. When placed against a wall, it'll appear to be mounted.

It's VERY tedious moving things around though..

Anyone figure out how to do this in a one-story house?

I'm pretty sure you need stairs, if anyone has a workaround for houses without stairs, I'd love to hear it

Just to add to what gatekeep said, yep, you do need stairs -- there is no command (available to players, anyway) for moving objects up or down. Go to 1st person mode, move your avatar up the stairsto the approximate height of where you want the item, then drop it.

At this point, you'll want to be familiar with the item movement commands. (Don't even bother with the radial menus of individual objectsfor this exercise.) Select the object, then issuea series of"move"and "rotate" commands. Here arethe formats of these commands, along with some comments:

/move [FORWARD | BACK] n

  • The "forward" option will move an object away fromyou (assuming you're facing the object and it's in front of you); the "back" option will move an object toward you.

  • "n" is limited to between 1 and 50. If you want to move an item away from you more than 50 units, you'll have to repeat the command.

  • You can move objects at any angle, not just 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees-- just go to 1st person, select the object, face the direction you want it to move, and "move" the object "forward" some number of units. It'll travel in whatever direction you're facing.

/rotate [LEFT | RIGHT] d

  • "left" and "right" are actually "counterclockwise" and "clockwise", respectively, though they do make some sense if you're positioning an NPC vendor (since as a humanoidsuch a vendor has an obvious "front" which thus defines a "left" and a "right").

  • "d" is limited to a range of 1-359. (Other numbers might work, but these are the only ones that will actually do anything useful for you.) You'll typically just turn objects between 10 and90 degrees left or right.

As gatekeep said, getting things in exactly the right spot is incredibly tedious; expect to spend a lot of time doing this if you're a perfectionist.

Have fun!
