Thread: New idea for Artisan/Crafting Professions

I was just thinking about how difficult it can be to go out and mine resources or even just being a crafter with no combat skills at all. Anything can kill you basically and you almost have to be like a kid that lives in a bubble. You cringe for your life when you see even just one red dot on your radar while out traveling. Things like this can be cumbersome. So, I was thinking of redoing (I think it's called revamp in this game...but whatever) the skill tree for Artisan. Take out the Survey column and merge it with the Engineering column. Now, the last column can be used for combat skills for Artisans/Crafters. Some skills that scouts have like masking scent could be in this column so that you may be able to get around certain animals of certain level. Basic fighting tactics could be put in here as well as pistol/rifle/carbine/melee skills so that now an Artican/Crafter may now be able to defend themselves without having to ask people to aid them all of the time. I'm thinking maybe the max CL an Artican/Crafter can be is CL40 after leveling through the whole column. After that you would have to have someone help you. Why I say CL40 is most animals in general areas are usually around CL30ish unless you go on very hostile worlds. Ifyou want to only do one crafting elite profession, you may be able to go to CL80 by getting an elite combat profession like Pistoleer/Rifleman/...etc, but only one since that's all the skills points allow.

Alternative: Instead of CL40, maybe CL25 and the masking scent would help compensate for being under CL of CL30s or 40s. But anyhting higher the mask scent does not work. So, if mastering an elite combat profession with themaster crafting profession you can attain CL80. I think this sounds more reasonable sinceno one can go that high in CL in just one column of combat training. Even then CL25 is still stretching it a bit, but you have ot defend yourself somehow and being only a level 10 or less just doesn't cut it in most cases while venturing out just to travel or to gather resources.

So, what do you think?
