Thread: shifting resources

OK, I understand that LOWCA (where I am) doesn't have shifting resources. The way it works on other servers is that resources shift every X period of time. Now, can someone from servers that this happens on can tell me how often that happens and how you deal with it. I dont imagine dumping 30K every X days/hours/whatever to move all my harvestors and loose all the energy I put into them.

Maybe I'm just not understanding the concept of this thing, I don't know but it seems to me I'm not going to be able to be weaponsmith if that thing happens. There's already a shortage or resources where I am, imagine what will happen if harvesting time gets cut in half because we will have to survey and move them all over again.

Thanks to all who help.

The answer is we dont deal with it, we are really pissed about the bind the devs put us in, i can no longer afford to be an artisan only characer, my cost are skyrocketing.

I just change what my harvestors are harvesting. Granted, it's annoying because certain of resources will be unmineable. For me right now, that's Aluminum, Ore, and Copper which are all in the 20s. Instead, I'm mining and selling Steel.

Wash, Rinse, Repeat for the other types of Harvestors. The only types that you're absolutely locked in on are the power plants and Water Vaporators.

Also, it seems like it happens weekly (give or take a couple days),

The problem I am having with shifting resources is that the names are changing. The first week i was on I hand wrote all the resource names to give myself a guide to good mining spots. I found Neti Steel to be very useful in the construction of rifles, and made a Schematic. Now I have the Schematic and there is no Neti steel to be found on Tatooine anymore.

Do the resources shift on the planet and throughout the galaxies ? I have a factory now , but can nt find the material to run it and produce the Items i want.

Since we are a roll here, when are speeders coming out, I want to move my havestors farther away from the trailer park 1500 km out side Mos Eisley.

Harvesters, if you have the right materials, are actually reasonably cheap to make, especially compared to the re-deeding cost. This is even more true if you always have one of your harvesters mining some form of steel. So, always make sure you have about 1000 or more units of Steel on hand (best in a safety deposit box). When a resource of a harvester shifts, first see if you're lucky and if you've got another good resource there. If you don't, no worries.

Simply go back to town, grab your steel, and sample for the rest of the materials you need. (You might want to consider buying the low-grade ore if you're not too strapped for cash.) Now just build a new harvester and place it where you can find another resoruce percentage.

Of course, this only works if you can build the harvester in the first place. If you can't, find an architect or an artisan at the level you need. Most artisans and architects I've run across will sell you a harvester for less than the re-deeding price, but the actual amount varies from galaxy to galaxy. I've seen as cheap as 500 credits and as expensive as 2500. I hope this helped.
