Ok, sorta feelin like a dumb ass.
Every profession i've gone into has been self explanatory and pretty easy but when i survey and it gives me the map grid of what im surveying, i do't understand what's good and what's not. There's no color Key or anything but there are several different colored cubes on the map that display the terrain but where's the metal? where's the quality/quantity or whatever it's suppose to tell you?

On the map, as long as the resource is located, there will be numbers which are a percentage of concentration of that resource. A waypoint will automatically be set to the highest concentration. Be careful when you look a the grid because north is always at the top regardless of which way you are looking. Follow the waypoint to the concentration and then survey again. It will set a new waypoint and you can do this over and over until you find a high enough concentration. I usually look for 80% or better. Once you are in a good spot you /sample. you will automatically sample for the resource you last surveyed for. You will also automatically resample until you run out of ham or move. Every time you sample and you find the resource you will get xp. You don't get xp for surveying. Also, you can't sample for wind energy. Don't sample for radioactive material, you will be damaged heavily from it. You also won't be able to tell what the characteristics of the resource are until after you sample for it and then examine the sample that is in your inventory.
