Hi,

I've been playing SWG for less than a week and doing okay learning surveying and sampling, and did some simple crafting, etc. I just can't figure out how the missions work from the artisan mission terminals and I need the creds! Can anyone take pity on me and clue me in as to how it works? I wouldn't mind tagging along with anyone if they could help me out while on-line either. I'm on Valcyn as D'on Yawnatme.

Thanks.

Thanks, that helps some, but in that post you said," go here get these parts put em together then go here and drop em off." The problem I am having with the missions is they say to go get resources to finish a project or whatever, but don't say what to DO with them or where to drop them off. Do we have to find the creator of the mission with a tell or something to get the creds? I'm so confused.

I'm not certain, but I think the originator was talking about crafting missions. For those, when you accept the mission, the system provides you with a waypoint, centered on a person (NPC). Go talk with that person, and they give you a few components, and a schematic is added to your list... lately they have been added under the "genetics" tab... use your generic crafting tool and craft the item. The components that were given to you are all you need for this.

Another thing that happens when you talk with the person is that the waypoint changes to another person. Usually in another city. Once you have crafted the item, go converse with that person, and you get your payoff. The schematic also disappears from the craftingtool when you get paid.

But really, if all you want is to make money, put down some harvesters, and sell the resources on the bazaar. Much more lucrative.

Hey Sal,

Artisan missions area pain, but once you get it down it's easy money if you have time. Here's the plan...

The missions are ALWAYS about finding a concentration of a certain type of resource that is at least one thousand and something km away from the mission terminal. Pay attention to which type of resource the mission calls for. I suggest taking only GAS missions, since gas seems easiest to find in high concentrations. Stay away from ORE missions. Ore rarely seems to spawn in concentrations higher than 70, and most missions call for 68 or higher, so your chances are slim.

Now, if you are new and have no ride, 1000 km is a long, dangerous distance from town. So, USE THE SHUTTLES! That's right, pick two towns with cheap fares between them and ride the shuttle back and forth. In fact, before you go, survey around town and find a high concentration of any sort of gas and make a waypoint there. Get your gas mission, get a shuttle ride over to the next big town. Find the gas and you'll make the credits (and make another waypoint)! (usually you'll make at least 1000 cr for two gas missions and the shuttle will cost 200 or less). In the new town, get 2 more gas missions, ride back to town 1, activate your waypoint and go survey, and DING! More money. Back and forth. Look at it as a prequel to the grinding you'll be doing later.

Oh, and there's rumors that if you are grouped, and/or if you have at least level 4 in a combat skill, the mission payouts are higher. I haven't noticed a difference.

Also, even after you are rich and famous, it never hurts to pick up a couple of GAS survey missions whenver travelling. I find that by doing that I can quickly and easily cover the cost of my tickets (even inter-planetary).

That's my problem, the system isn't setting a waypoint when I accept a mission from a terminal. The NPC missions are no problem and I've done a few. Maybe it's a program glitch?

I don't think we've nailed down what type of missions it is you're doing. Is it crafting missions, or survey missions? It sounds like you're getting survey missions from a terminal. If that's the case, the mission giver is the terminal, and O-Jen's post has everything you need. If it's crafting missions from a terminal and it's not giving you a waypoint, well.. don't know what to say, never seen that myself.

There! I think that's my answer. Thanks so much. I'll go try again and let you know if it works.
