Good Morning,

I have recently taken up Artisan (4103) but i am not getting the option to experiment on any of the items i craft. As i have complex engineering, i would have thought this option would be available to me. I apologise if this has been covered anywhere else, but i am getting seriously frustrated now.

Thanks in advance

Are you standing next to a crafting station while using your crafting tool?

Don't let the negative AFKophobes get you down. Play the game however you want.

Try using a specific crafting tool in the presense of a work station. Lets say for the sake of argument that you are trying to craft stim A's then you would need a food/chem crafting kit and be in the presense of a food/chem work station. This should give you the option of experimenting on your prototype before it is finished.

And a generic crafting tool will never let you experiment.

Um, not precisely true. My Weapon, Droid, and General Item crafting tool, as I stand next to a crafting station of the same type, lets me craft EVERY SINGLE ITEM that I can craft, with experimentation. It's really the only tool you need. I don't know if this is a bug or a feature, but every single schematic is available with it, and the results I get are not anybetter if I use the specialized tools.

Also, some items don't have experimentation--things that come to mind are chef components, clothing components, and clothing itself.

I've found that if I'm crafting in my house, I need to stand IN my crafting station or I can't experiment oruse the schematics that require a station. Anyone else have this problem?

Well, I've had it so that if I was 2 or more meters away, I wouldn't get any experimentation screen. But then I've had it where it seems like I'm 20 meters away, and I can't escape the Experimentation part!

That is a bug. In fact, it's a bug that has been introduced since launch, it didn't used to be like that. I think it was introduced about the time the crafting missions were added, although I could be mistaken on that. I'm not sure why it has taken them so long to fix it. Maybe no one has /bugged it, since it makes life easier for Artisans anyway...
