Thread: Question re: resource shifting
Now, as I said, I thought resources shifted once a week. Does that mean that on Monday somewhere about 1/7th of the resources shift, then remain for a week, on Tuesday, another 1/7th shift, etc.? Or does it work in some other way?
Any insight that you can give me (I have made it to Engineering IV so the quality of the resources is starting to become important to me (I am going to be a weaponsmith).
Thanks!
no, when a resource disappears has nothing to do with it actually getting mined up.

I'm still pretty new to the game - less than 3 weeks. I have heard about resource shifting, but I was under the impression that resources shifted once a week. I understood that to mean that a new resource might become available, an existing one no longer available, or an existing having its stats change. Is that correct?

Sounds like you know the basics. On a shift, old resources disapear and new ones arive. An actual named resource won't have the stats change, but there may be a new resource of the same class, different name, with different stats.
The shifts don't happen like clockwork. A resource usualy stays about 7 days, but it could be 6, or it could be 10. Some days 1/3rd of the resourses shift, some only a couple. Some days there'll be a shift in the morning, and another late in the day. The key is just to keep track of when the individual resource first showed up. That way you know you'll have at least the better part of a week to harvest it.
Inorganics stay 7 to 11 days
Organics stay 7 to 21 days
For multi-planet resources (steel, for example), it will shift into multiple planets all at once (whether it's 3 planets or 8, it shows up to all of them at the same time), but will shift out separately. I.e, a steel could disappear from Yavin on day 7, but the exact same steel could stick around for 9 days on Naboo
For all single planet resources (i.e. Dathomirian fruit, or Yavininian fiberplast or Corellian animal bones), the new resources shifts in as soon as the old leaves.
There will always be at least one water on a planet, but occasionally there will be two (the only planet-specific resource like this).
