Thread: Survey XP Nerf?

Ok, this is driving me batty. The last time I did Survey I-IV, I did it all in a day. As I recall, sitting on a 95% conentration spot, I was getting between 20-30 units of resource on a sucessful sample roll. This was a month or two before vehicles came out.

Now, going back to Artisan on a new toon, again on a 95% spot, Im getting 8 units of resources per successful roll, failingon 4 out of 5 tries. I sampled for a full 6 hours last night, trying to get through survey IV and got a whopping 3383xp. What the **edit**? Not only that, but the stupid survey window is now popping up every other sample. I nearly got ganked by an elder with my main while trying to close-out the stupid "Focus the device....Ignore device...." BS on my alt that was surveying.

I have seen NO GAIN in xp from survey 1 to survey III. It has stayed constant at 6-8 units per sample, 25ish xp.

If this keeps up, I'm gonna be forced to AFK survey.

Just do it, I'm at work now while my character is surveying away at home.

At least use a macro.

Macro isn't affected by the focus window.

Survey window certainly stopped me macroing when I left my toon last night!

Are you sure you can get around it?

There is a way to get past the focus pop-up.Put something on your enter key, and don't touch anything else on the keyboard after you start to sample.If your Stamina and Quickness are high enough, you can sample as long as you want without any macros needed.I personally used a pocket calculator propped on my enter key while I went and did yard work, and by the time I was done I had 7K worth of survey exp.Good luck!

lol the putting something on the enter key is hilarious

there's a simple macro for surveying that beats the events:

/stand;

/sample;

/pause3;

/sit;

/pause 28;

/ui action toolbarSlot00;

Place the macro in the first slot of your quickbar and it will continue until you remove it or change tabs.

That last line is useful for many macros, it's the call to quickbar slots, 00-11 for the top ones and 12-22 for the bottom.

He's quite right, I use a similar macro posted on allakhazam (in fact I'm using it right now) and it works despite the popups, the stand cancelling yoursampling. The only problem is you don't get to make use of the 'particularly rich vein of resources' or whatever it is- effectively the sample attempt fails.

Shouldn't be necesary HowlingMad, the /stand interupts the survey and then /sample starts another. What you get when you return is several of the popups to close, that's all.

(been a while since I used it, but that's the case, I think)

I ran the macros and it works nicely. Occasionally, I do the get rich-resource windows. I modified the first pause to run 120 seconds. 4 seconds wasn't enough time and I figured it was only there as an example of how the macro should look. Thanks!
