What do you believe to be the best crafting item for xp. That is, for each level of engineering. I heard that it is best to keep crafting the general crafting units.
Any help?

Crafting units are the best, but everytime they finish up being made they close your crafting window, which becomes a huge pain in the ass. I grinded cubes until I got to engineering III

For pure macro grinding, stick with survey devices. Most use 27 units of metal/mineral (resources x 3 = 81 XP?), so you can knock them out with a big block of junk steel. They aren't necessarily the best for XP but they are easy to write a looping macro for, since they don't require multiple types of resources.

Survey devices give 57 xp in practice mode.

Survey is still the way i find best, done artisan a few times now and on my last try i did survey devices for like 10 mins then switched to harvesters at 500xp a go. Half an hour and im 444x with just some sampling. Beats the first time i ever did it when it took me a few weeks

Ya know i was just going to drop a thread asking about this....
I came to find survey devices gave out more xp for the resources use, so i guess i was on the right track.
So at Engineering 3 I need to switch to HARVESTORS???

You don't NEED to switch. Kind of depends on what resources you have available to you. If you have the resources for harvestors, then make them simply because the bigger chunk of XP you get. You still use the same amount of resources, you just need more types. If you have smuggler, you can grind clamps to get xp or you can grind large glasses if you have the domestic line in artisan.
If you are a Master Artisan and looking to get xp for an elite novice box, I like to use vehicles. They don't give 2:1 xp for resources but they give a good amount and they are very sellable. But again... It depends on what resources you have. If all you have is steel, keep grinding those survey devices. It will just take you longer but may save you time and money if you don't have to gather other resources.
