Just wondering if I was to give up Artisan if i would still be able to have and use my vendors.

Well, if there are any similarities with the Merchant bug, then the answer would be yes. However they are supposed to be fixing that soon.
Otherwise I think you only have to keep the business line of artisan to keep your vendors.

Yeah, Artisan has the same bug as Merchant. You can keep your vendor until it gets destroyed, runs out of maintenance or the devs fix the bug.
