Thread: Survey Mission Questions

Hello,
I am new to the Galaxy and am having a real poor time with surveying missions from the the mission terminal. When I accept a mission I get no waypoints, but do get a message saying that I have to be within a radius of the person asking for the resorce.
Problem is I have no idea where that NPC is .. Anyone that can give me a cluew on how to do these missions I would greatly apprecaite it..

I personally never did surveying missions. Crafting missions are alot better as far as making money goes. Get to Tyrena and take missions that finish southish (??). You get given both starting and finishing wp. Missions finish at Vreni Island which is a short shuttle ride away. Grabbing two such missions gives you about 3000 credits in total plus crafting XP. There is an artisan terminal near shuttleport B and NPCs are usually 100m away. This is a real timesaver. As far as surveying XP goes, find an 80% ish resource concentration and sample away. Thats alot easier.

Here's the deal with survey missions:
You have to find (meaning that it's in your screen on your survey device) a location with the specified resource at the specified concentration at least 1024 meters away from the NPC/Mission terminal.
That's it.
You should get a "Mission Completed" ping after you do this.
Stay away from Ore ones, btw, as it is very hard to find a vein of ore much greater than 60% (in my experience).

--If you are going out surveying, go ahead and get two missions. Try and pick missions that list a resource you are particularly searching for. Let them just stay in your datapad as long as you are searching for that particular resource. If you start looking for another resource or need to do a different kind of mission sometime later, just delete the survey missions. You will never get a lot of Survey xp from these missions, instead make yourself a good survey macro, including sitting down and resting, and a heal after every 3rd or 4th survey attempt. That is where you get survey xp!

The wording is a bit confusing. If you're taking them for a mission terminal that is the NPC technically. What I like to do is put a waypoint at the mission terminal and go otu 1024 meters from there and search for concentrations of resources in around 75% to 80% concentration. Once I find it I drop a waypoint there as well and head back to the terminal. Quip the weapon I'm most proficient with and get two missions for the resource I found. Then just run back and forth to the resource and the mission terminal. You can make quite a bit of money with little effort this way.
