Hi all,

After getting extremely bored with fighting classes and entertainers in this game I've decided to make an artisan, only, I get extremely frustrated and lost the first 5 minutes into the game. I don't know what minerals to look for, where to look for them, how to look for them, etc, so I'm wondering if there is a web resource out there to help prospect artisan's build a foundation and get started in this game.

Thanks all!

www.swgcraft.com is a great resource when you are intermediate / expert, but is partially down at the moment, and I'm not sure if it has a good newbie guide.

Definitely read the "advanced guide to crafting" in the main webiste: www.starwarsgalaxies.com , click on "Advanced guides" in the lefthand menu. This shouldhave been part of the manual.

As for your questions:

- If a schematic says it needs "mineral", you can use any kind of mineral. But it should maximize the stats that this schematic needs. For instance, CDEF weapons and crafting / survey tools only care about conductivity, so you should look for some kind of mineral with high conductivity (usually copper); weapon powerups require high overall quality, and so on.

- You have to usea survey tool to look for minerals. If you started as an artisan you should have a couple of them as starting equipment; if you started as something else and then learned novice artisan, you have to buy at least a mineral survey tool from the bazaar, or buy some copper and make one yourself. Once you can sample minerals you can craft the other ones.

- You double click on the survey tool and a window will open. Select a type of resourcefrom the list and hit "survey"; a % map will appear and a waypoint will be created. Go to that waypoint, survey again, repeat until the waypoint doesn't move - i.e. you have reached aconcentration peak for that resource. At that point hit "sample" and you'll start slowly mining the resource.

I hope these pointers help. Artisan is a hard but very rewarding career. Have fun!
