Thread: How do you get rid of a harvester...

I put up 4 wind generators as my first attempt at harvesting. The resource ran out and the other version of the resource there was very low quality. So I left the 4 wind generators running with no maintenance money in them. I figured they would eventually destroy themselves. Who wants to pay 3000 credits to dismantle them? Not me.

I also deleted my waypoints to them.

Now it is a couple of days later and they still have not destroyed themselves. I have placed 6 more harvesters and now all 10 of my spots are used up.

Did I do a bad thing? Without the waypoints I am not sure I can find them. Sigh. How long does it usually take for a harvester to destroy itself?

Thanks in advance for any help and/or insights!

It would probably take them a week or more to fully decay. You need to use the "destroy structure" command" to get rid of them. They will redeed if you have the proper amount of credits in them, but if you don't they will just poof.

Thanks Duncje!

I thought that if I "destroyed" them that the 3000 credits would be taken from my bank account. What you are saying is that the 3000 credits must be in the machines maintanence pool, otherwise when you "destroy" them, or attempt to redeed them they simply vanish!

Now if I can only find where I left those 4 wind generators. Sigh.

Thanks you very much!

Just as a side note, unless things are different on your server, harvester redeed costs are as follows:

Personal: 1500

Medium: 3000

Heavy: 4500

Personals are almost always cheaper to destroy than redeed unless you've got a lot of power sitting on one. Mediums and Heavies are just too spendy to burn up this way.
