you need to make sure the tool you are using can craft the item you are counting.

so, the rules are:
1. count left to right, top to bottom, starting from 0.
2. if the item is not made in the tool you are using, skip it and continue the numbering from the next item
(ie: [items completely random, off the top of my head] using a weapon tool.
CDEF pistol: 0
CDEF Carbine: 1
mineral survey tool: 2
bone armour leggings: skip
chemical survey tool: 3)

3. If you are not standing by a crafting station, and the item requires one to be made, skip it.
If you are standing by a crafting station - include it in the count.

I've been having serious trouble with finding the appropriate number for this command to match the schematic I need. I was told to open up the datapad, and count left to right, up to down starting with 0 to find out the right number to use, but it pops up as a bone armor right bicep (which isnt what i want to craft). Can somebody please clear this up?

I've tried the left to right top to bottom way before but in the end it never worked out for me. Usually (read almost always) I end up taking a 8tool macro and just start at schematic 00 and increment by 1 for everytool in the macro. Then once 0 thru 7 have checked out as not having the schematic I need I'll change it out to 8 thru 15... rinse and repeat. Once I find the right schematic I'll throw that into the macro all the way down and start grindin away. A bit tedious yes... but it works everytime!

Tuesday Tip January 11th

I'd suggest adding a /pause 2 before it to allow enough time for your tool to open for the macro to select the schematic.

Works with anything.
