Thread: 89%: Not a high enough density to sample

I've been running into a lot of new resources which are not sample-able, even when you're looking at densities up in the upper-80's.

On my server (Intrepid,) on Tatooine, there was a single source of Fiberplast named..."Occi...something". Fine, one kind of fiberplast on the planet, and sometimes I had to travel pretty far to get agood density, but no big deal. Kind of fun running around in the wilderness being a wuss artisan, knowing that I'm toast if anything agros on me.

Today, the resource name had changed to something else. When I surveyed for the new resource, I was standing right on top of a spot with 70% density; I take a sample..."There is not a high enough density of this resource for you to sample." I surveyed again, moved tothe sweet spot, 89%...same thing.

Maybe it's just me, but how can INOT get a sample of a resourcewhen I'm standing on the proverbial motherlode?

This little annoyance is bad enough, since I'm out of fiberplast and can't make clothes, which are my main source of income that pays for my harvesters and wind generators. However, earlier today Iput down a new wind generator on a pretty good source of wind energy, and when I come back a few hours later, it informed me that it had shut down because the resource was depleted. I checked and, sure enough, that energy resource is no longer available.I had to pay 3000cr to move the brand new wind generator to a place that actually had enough resources to make it semi-efficient.

What's to prevent this same madness from happening again tomorrow? I can barely afford harvesters and wind generators anyway, so I certainly can't afford to move them every day. This is INSANE.

I understand that they are trying to stop people from using macros, but this is a kludge. Beating on things with ballpeen hammers to fix them is never an elegant solution.

C'mon devs, surely you can come with something to fix your macro'ing problem that doesn't make the game unplayable for thepeople who aren't using macros. Some of us are actually playing the game the way it's intended to be played. A large number of your player base IS NOT trying to reach master architect in, oh, i don't know, 3 days or something, and are just casually playing the game to have fun.

I'm gettin the same thing on my server...I had 74% on Ipoit steel I can't get a single sample of it. I can't build harvestors cause I need the steel and I can't get mass amounts of copper to build anything decent. this sucks. Maybe when we start paying on a monthly basis the next thing SoE will do is say "all artisans are now born with no legs, so a walking penalty will be instituded to compensate for their cumbersome wheelchair." Now I know what "game experience may change over time" means.

same here. I got this message for several resources with VERY high concentrations. It's gotta be a bug. I even went to different vein of the stuff in a different city and got the same message. And then other things I can sample at like 20%. We need a dev on this Stat!

Haha! Of course this means that if you start as a dancer, then learn the artisan profession, the trainer chops off your legs and you have to learn a new branch of wheelchair dancing in the entertainment tree.*

But seriously, the warning on the web page says"Game Experience may change during online play". They started putting this on games like Quake 3 that had a single-player and an online portion toshield themselves from lawsuits I suppose, brought by parents who complain about others swearing at their children online or something.

But having that on an online only game doesn't make sense. The experience may change from what? From the experience you had on the startup screen?

* no disrespect to folks in wheelchairs or with no legs is intended here. Although I do hope it annoys some whiny, politically correct liberals

Same two issues. 89% copper right under my feet...waypoint around me...."resource densuty too low"

I make my first harvester and not 3 hours after I turn it on the resource is no longer available.

DEV's YOU MUST DO SOMETHING ABOUT ALL THE BUGGED, NERFED AND OTHERWISE SCREW PROFESSIONS!!!!!!

Some kind of warning when the resources are going to change would be nice. Though I do understand a few reasons this doesn't happen....putting a harvester down and wasting the time finding a resource only to find that the resource is gone, or the survey equiptment located 88% of nothing is NOT fun.

I LOVE this game, but as it stands I cannot see paying monthly for a game where it seems everything aside from combat is still a work in progress.

yeah i tried a sample at 78% and couldn't get anything. I heard some one who found 95% couldn't get anything either,

Also according to the notes the sampling takes 25 seconds and uses more mind. So even if you could get a sample it would take about an hour or more to get a mere 100 items. Which could barely make anything.

This kinda sucks because it already close to impossible to find any weapons anywhere other than the million or so cdef pistols. And there is almost no armor out there either. So it suck to be an artisen but even more to play anything else accept for another game maybe.

Same thing happened to me. I'm on Kettenmoor server. I was on Tatooine also searching for any kind of metal so I could make my first set of bone armor. I hit a spot around 60 - 70% and I got the same message. I moved to Naboo. Same thing. Really I don't care about selling my stuff that much. I just like being able to make my own. Now I work 8 hrs a day and I can't wait around digging for 3 hrs to get 1 sample back. The only reason I have this skill is to save money on equipment. On top of all that it was taking off like 230 action points just to take one sample. Last night it only cost 180, but I still got results. I worked really hard to be able to make just the first pieces of bone armor, I finally get it and I can't even get the resources I need. It also doens't help that I can barely deal any damage now, so I can't even kill a womp rat to harvest it's bones to make a basic tent.

I had the same 78% can't sample thing.

On harvesters sometimes you will notice you can harvest resources that do not show up on the surveyor.......maybe these resources can only be harvested from those spots with a harvester? not sampled by hand.

Probably not but its a goodexcuse

I started seeing this last night on Naboo in Naritus. I was looking for the only type
of Fiberplast available. I found 75% loads that I could not sample "...density too low...".
We have a resource shift last night which seemed to cause this.

Today, I now see 3 types of Fiberplast available. I sample some of the new ones, find
>70%, sample, and get the same "...density too low..." ARGHHH!!!

HOWEVER, I set a waypoint to my original location where I started receiving this message.
When I went back there today...JACKPOT! I can now sample the 75% Fiberplast I found last
night.

It looks like this message is a symptom of resource shifting. I've only been in a week,
but the load finally came back. Next time, I will be patient (although frustrated) when
I see high densities that cannot be sampled.
