Are you using the Bulky Vendor?


The maint on those beasts is horrible, but if you train the first box in Merchant, you get the option of using an NPC vendor which is very cheap to operate. I put about 800 credits into mine the other day (with about 50 items up for sale) and the maint is paid for a month (actually 32 days).


So my advice is leave the bulky vendor up long enough to train Novice Merchant and you'll be very very happy.
