Thread: Survey Says...

i have heard two conflicting positions regarding survey tools:

one position says that the list of resources yousee on the survey toolis the basic list for that planet.if it's not on the list, it's not on the planet. in other words, step off the shuttle, shoot a survey and that gives you the full resource list of that planet (not by concentration or location - just availability).

the other positionstates that you have to get out and survey all areas of the map before you can properly survey that planet. in other words, the list on the survey tool is not a complete list of resources available on that planet at that time.

so, can anyone clear this up?

Surveys are planet-wide.

no surveys are not planet wide, they are just in the are that your skills provide, when you have survey lvl4 you can survey or "scan" a larger area for the type of mineral you select, the list in the tool is the list for the planet, but some resources can't be found in all locations, and the tool will tell you when you survey for that resource and it's not there.

He's asking if everything he sees on his survey tool is everything that can be found on the planet. The answer is yes. Again.

Actually, "no", the list of minerals listed on your survey tool is not the complete list for the planet.

Toverify this, simply go to Rori, check your Mineral Survey tool in Narmele. Get on the shuttle to Restuss, and check it again. This list is currently different...however slightly.

I believe if you see this, then something shifted (shifts occur all the time for individual resources. Before I am convinced that what you see on the survey device is *not* what is available planet-wide, I would have to add a return trip to Narmele. In other words, I need to see that the list on the return trip to Narmele matches the original list and the sandwiched check in Restuss is different.

I've been mining for about 2 months, at least. I step off the shuttle servey, update my list, survey/sample new and possibly profitable resources and move onto the next planet. The list you see in your survey device is all the resources available on the planet - changing locations on the planet will not change the list on your survey device.

so, i repeat my question: can anyone clear this up... definatively?

Survey tools show all resources currently available on a planet.

all resources on the planet.

To test this do it this way:

COUNT the number of minerals available in Theed. Perhaps screenshot the entire list (remember to scroll)

Shuttle to Moenia and do the same. See if your list matches or is different.

NEXT (this step IMPORTANT to eliminate false positives) shuttle back to Theed. Make sure your list matches.
