Thread: Should doctors get surveying?
I was rather surprised to read very strong support on the Doctor forums for Doctors/Medics getting surveying, it's actually the number 1 issue in the correspondent's list of what people might want "fixed"
To me this seems a kick to the artisans. We can't heal, why should they get surveying?
I think the game works best when classes have some need for each other, the interdependence is what makes a MMORPG tick, what makes it better than single player
I would be very disappointed if this got through

I am a master medic, on the way to master doctor. I see no need whatever for doctors to have surveying. During most of my career I will be able to keep novice artisan. That is all the surveying ability I will ever need. Right now, I am buying all my resources on the bazaar. If I ever get to the point where I need something specific, and nobody is selling it, novice artisan is enough to find it.
I don't expect that to ever happen though. I think it is funny that there was supposed to be a miner profession in the game originally. It was cut, because the developers thought it would be too boring. Now, on many of the crafting forums, when people ask about starting in that profession, they are told that they can make more money, easier, just by gathering and selling the resources. Resource gathering (mining) seems to be one of the most popular, and profitable things to do in the whole game. If there is a need for a resource, someone will find it, and sell it.
Many medics and doctors are forced into gathering their own resources because they don't make enough creds (i.e. people don't tip). Add in the fact that medical crafting and experimentation is suffering due to a high failure rate, lots of resources get wasted.
Don't even mention medical forage to a medic. A good way to lose that medic's services. ![]()
