Thread: Crafting Stations Not Letting Me Experiment!

I am a new master artisan, but not new to crafting.

I filled a room of my house with 1 of every type of crafting station.

Once in a while I am not able to experiment which REALLY sucks because you can't go <BACK and now you have just wasted a TON of materials on an unexperimented product.

If I pick up my station and drop it dead in the middle of the room, it works again.

Whats going on?

Sorry if this is a known issue. New here...

seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen anything to make me

There have been some bug reports about this. And everyone's solution was to either pick it up and redrop or be standing inside the one you need. I havent heard any loud noisy about this tho so its prolly not on any fix lists.

Well, after losing countless resources on gambling whether it will let me experiment or not, I figured out a precaution...

When you hold down on your corresponding tool, if the menu gives you the option to "open input hopper", you will be able to experiment.

If not, try walking towards the appropriate station, even inside it, the check the menu again, if you can acess the input hopper, proceed!

As usual, picking up, rotating, and moving the station helps sometimes too, or logging out then in.

I have seen this also. The problem seems to occur when the stations are too close to each other. If you separate them by a few meters each, the problem goes away.

It almost seems as if the game is doing something like this:

1. Find the nearest crafting station to me.

2. Is it the right type for my crafting tool?

3. YES - allow experimentation

4. NO - prevent experimentation

So if you are closer to the center point of a Food/Chem station, for example, than you are to the center point of a Weapon station, then your Weapon tool will not let you experiment. Pick up the Food/Chem station without moving an inch, though, and Weapon experimentation starts working.

You could also be running into the problem of your crafting station being partly inside of a wall. If it is, it will be as if it is not near you. Also if you have a lot of resources in your room, make sure that they are not between you and the crafting station or it may also count you as not being near the station.

1) Make sure you have space behind your crafting station and the wall of your house

2) Make sure there are no object in the floor between you and the crafting station
