Depends on the harvestor. A personal harvestor can have a max BER of 4, a medium can have a max BER of 10, and a heavy harvestor can have a max BER of 13 (in disregard of the one day crafting change).

Now, for instance, a BER 4 personal is a good personal, while a BER 7 Medium is a bad medium. I'd say that for personals you should have 3 or 4, mediums should be 10, and heavies 13.

Also, whan is a good price for one and how many should I have of each? I need about 30-60k units per month. I have surveying 4, so I hope I can place these.

To get 60k units of resources per month, you would need one of the following:

BER 4 personal, placed on a 35% spot
BER 3 personal, placed on a 46% spot
BER 2 personal, placed on a 70% spot

The price would probably vary from server to server, but it requires 250 units of resources (AFAIK) to make one. On Chimaera where I play they would probably not sell for more than 1000 cr.

Finally, can anyone recommend a place to buy these? Any help you can give is appreciated.

Either go looking in player shops, or ask a friendly master artisan if he has/can build some for you.
