you use a driod-general tool. NOT the general tool you get from the start. That is the one i use. you have to be next to a crafting station to get the speeder though.

You need to be next to a crafting station for the landspeeder (just to clarify asits not clear from the post above if he meant landspeeder or not)to show up as for some reason it has a higher complexity, however you're gonna be near one anyway as you'll be experimenting on them. But just in case you're wondering why it doesn't show up.

Asteroids wants you to know that you can use your Weapon, Droid, Generic cafting tool anywhere you are without the need of a Weapon, Droid, Generic Crafting station,if you use a droid 
with a Weapon, Droid, Generic station in it. At the same time you can use your droid for a multitude of other features.
