Alright here's my two cents on this one...WHAT ABOUT THE TITLE ARTISAN IMPLIES COMBAT ABILITIES?!?!?!? IF YOU WANT COMBAT ABILITIES PICK UP A COMBAT PROF IT'S THAT FREAKIN SIMPLE. THIS GAME WAS DESIGNED TO BE IMMERSIVE AND OPEN TO PEOPLE WHO WANTED TO BE INVOLVED IN A STAR WARS PLOTLINE WITHOUT HAVING TO FIGHT. THE FACT THAT THIS GAME HAS CRAFTING CLASSES(AND SOMANY OF THEM)IS ONE OF THE THINGS THAT CURRENTLY SET IT APART FROM OTHER GAMES. I HAVE AN ARTISAN, AND HAVE NO DESIRE FOR COMBAT ABILITIES. THE POINT IS ARTISANS ARE ARTISANS. GIVING THE ARTISAN COMBAT ABILITIES MAKES AS MUCH SENSE AS GIVING PISTOLEERS THE ABILITY TO MAKE HARVESTERS. PICK UP A COMBAT PROF...THE POINTS ARE THERE, USE EM'

It would be nice, but not gonna' happen. Perhaps we should get dodge mods for every time we successfully avoid getting our innards torn out by a creature we happen to be passing on our vehicles, or for the group of red aggro NPCs that always want to camp next to my harvester.
Face it if you're going to be a crafting type you have to make a decision....
A) Never leave the safety and security of an NPC city and get all your resources from the bazaar/other players.
B) As the previous poster mentioned, dedicate some skill points to a combat profession.

I agree. I'm a master artisan, master tailor and novice pistoleer. I'm able to survive in the wild fairly well. I can't PvP, but I don't want to, and I can PvE well enough solo that the game is still fun. But I did open a second account so I could have a combat monster on the same server as my crafter.

Because sometimes some people really are just that stupid. It's best to assume they meant what they said, nod and smile, and then cautiously walk away.

Maybe we can ensure that all the combat classes get crafting skills too. Or we could just meld all the 32 classes together into one uber uber uber class with every skill in the game. May as well add in Jedi skills and delete the Jedi class too. I mean wouldn't it be nice to have your Jedi character combined with you Artisan too?
....You have gained 1000 000 sarcasm xp......
....You have - 1000 000 serious faction......
