BH Pistoleer must be the top of the damage heap. A few days ago, I decided to give up BH. I was locked out of new boxes, and I enjoy advancement. I was bored! I tried other ways of keeping interest;I had worked for several weeks with the Guild and was very pleased with where we were, but this avenue of gameplay is ancillary at best to PvE and PvP. Commando sounded very neat, with the wide variety of weapons and the ability to sink PvE ATSTs. COOL! I have now Flame 3, Tactics 2. I am so glad that I kept my Pistoleer Techniques branch. I'm much much slower than I was with BH pistol branch, but I really like Launcher Pistol with Stopping Shot. As a matter of fact, that's the only attack I really use. I typically hit for about 1500 every second or maybe second and a half. I have tried the Flame Thrower, but it has resulted in my untimely death several times. Wow, is that lock-out something! I attempted to use an Acid Rifle as well, but I was unable to really hit anything.
Overall, I'm just not impressed with the power of the weapons. The Launcher Pistol is actually slower and a bit less effective than the Scatter Pistols over all. I have read some interesting things that the Dev's have attempted--but did they work? I'm quite certain the Acid Rifle is still beta, right?
Anyway, I'd love to see a change that would allow players to turn off the neat, but unnecessary explosions created when the Launcher Pistol is fired. I really hate it when I make people lag with the pistol. Change to Acid Rifle in groups? Heehee. Hey! I want some exp too! Flame Thrower isn't too bad, but I am a Medic as well. The lock-up on the Flame Thrower has an affect on my speed in healing myself and my team mates. Is it something that can be dealt with? Yes. Is it fun? Not as much fun as the pistol.
I'll stick with it until master, and then either take another profession or go to FFXI.
