My inventory was out of room, but when I made room, it still won't work. I have three crafting kits stuck now. They won't open now, they just say take the thing out of the hopper, but I don't see any hopper!

Does anyone know the answer?

Go to your crafting tool in your inventory and bring up the radial menu, under the first one, use or open.-- I just forgot. Anyway.. if you hover over it you'll see that you can "remove whatzit from hopper".

I should know this by heart- I see it all the time.

I destroyed three of these things thinking it was a bug or something. You just saved my last two.
