Thread: Very Disapointed with Factories More Work Then It's Worth
You do realize that you only need 2 components that have identical serial numbers...they do not need to be out of the same exact factory crate, right?
In other words, you run 100 Widgets in your factory, you can use any combination of those 100 Widgets (from any of the 4 crates) to make your Whatchamacallits.
As for using factories, you really should get a few more, if you are truly interested in mass production. 1 factory is nice when you make something that requires no components, and you can just leave it running overnight.
Personally, I have 4 factories...3 permanent, and 1 that I rotate with a Heavy Harvester, depending on my needs at the time. I generally have 2 factories running non-stop, making sub-components. The 3rd factory is generally pumping out my "sale" items.
You think you have it bad...T21 rifles take *10* power Handlers...which means that max T21s that you'll be able to make in a factory are 9 at a time.
urg, the wish for an edit button.
the best thing with a factory is that you do not have critical failures, infact, no failures at all. well, expect maybe your schematic, but that is the only place. they will all come out exatly the way you told it to do it. that is the purpose of factories, and you can also do other things while it grinds for you. weeee
Thanks for the tips guys.
Additional factories would just be a waste for me - I barely need to use this one, I only have it because of these specific parts that need to be factory made. So yes, it would be quicker, but not really worth the expense.
However, I didn't realize that the serial numbers were by schematic, and not by crate. I don't know why I didn't get this - when I first got my factory a couple of weeks ago I thought I had tried to mix crate items, but after checking I see the serial numbers are the same.
So thank you for helping me out - it's a lot more bearable without that limit.
A few of my other thoughts still stand regarding them, but it's nice to know when I do a run of the brains I can make more than four at a time. ![]()
Thanks so much,

Your factory can make 100 units, even though you get 4 crates, they are the exact same. look at the serial number. so, i would use one crate to make my new schematic but throw all my crates back into the ingrediant hopper so you will have 96 units of each item in the hopper. you will get 96 units of finish product afterwards. So, you don't have to do the three runs or get three more factories, just make sure the serial number is always the same. good luck and have fun.
If you are referring to the max 100 limit on the schematic, only the slider is limited to 100. You can type in an extra 0 and get 1000 uses out of your schematic. :-)

This posting has nothing to do with factory XP. (Just to be clear.
)
I am a DE. I am posting here because I think this is a universal issue, and I'm sure it's been mentioned - but I can't find any recent discussions about it.
I have a factory I purchased to make identical items needed for a certain component (advanced droid brain). This was pretty straight forward, I use the identical items and craft the object.
Now I'm trying to make a droid that requires two of these advanced droid brains from a factory crate.
In order to do this, I have to make a schematic using parts out of the same factory crate that I will put in the hopper.
Here is the problem - the component requires four each of two parts from a crate - and since the limit on crate size is 25, that means that I can only make four advanced droid brains per schematic. (4*4+1 for the original schematic). So to make this one part, I have to do three seperate factory runs.
This is hugely time consuming - and I've just decided more work then it is worth. I'm simply not going to carry the droid that requires it. Because factories are so painfully slow, it would take me several hours to make the two original crates needed for the parts, then make the new schematic and wait for the lousy four components I could get out of each batch.
I'm having the same issue with other parts - since a schematic will only work with identical components as you used initially, this severely limits the amount of items you can make without having to tend to the factory.
With those other parts, i'm just hand-crafting them - infinitely faster.
This isn't a rant, I'm seriously trying to understand the logic behind this, and looking for any advice people have.
This has really turned me off from factories, since most of the parts I make require other parts, and endlessly making tiny factory runs just seems...silly to me, and I'd rather just not make them at all.
Audio, who is almost a Master DE (so please don't say, "stop now", or "it only gets worse" - I know, I'm already there)
