Thread: Tearing my hair out over this stupid chemical harvester

I bought a deed for a chemical harvester thinking it would save me a lot of time and effort and maybe get me enough fiberplast to actually work my tailoring instead of surveying all the time. I found a great spot at 95% to set the harvester up and paid it 500 credits--nearly all I had left over after buying the deed--and went to turn it on. Whoops, no fuel. I went back to town and spent a very tedious hour running little missions until I had the 2k to buy some wind power (I think it was) off the bazaar. Then when I went back to my harvester--which was a little difficult to find since naturally my waypoints were screwed up from surveying and when I placed the harvester I wasn't able to mark a waypoint to it--and tried to feed the fuel to it, I got a message saying I didn't have any fuel on me. Argh! What on earth do I do now? I've wasted a total of 3500 credits on this thing and when your entire incomecomes from making and selling boots and air cakes that's a lot of money.

What kind of fuel does this harvester take and how can I get the blinking thing to work? In the time I've spent monkeying around with it I could have harvested tons of fiberplast with my own two hands.

I believe the choices for fuel are Wind Energy, Solar Energy, and Radioactives.

You'll also probably want a little more cash than that, the personals use 720 credits/day maintenance.

And I get that datapad bug all the time too, it should be fixed by relogging =)

Don't take this as a flame, it's not. But, sometimes it pays to learn how things work before you blow all your money on them.

The harvester should have accepted your wind power, I don't know why it wouldn't, if the power was in your inventory (not in a backpack or bank). Aside from that, as mentioned above personal harvesters cost 720 credits per day, so unless you're selling boatloads of boots and air cake, get used to doing missions. It would also be more efficient for you to own a wind generator, so you don't have to keep buying the power, and you could probably even sell the excess power your generator kicks out to cover its maintenance cost (1440/day).

Harvesters acknowledge energy in a backpack also.
