FOOD Crafting BUG

I am busy making a bunch of different foods from leftover bits and pieces I have taking up space and per usual I experiment on every piece. What I have noticed is:
1. A % increase from a successful experimentation I will sometimes get a stat drop.
2. Not all great success is the same! Not all success is the same.
3. You can significantly increase a % and get no corresponding stat increase for the item

This information was transcribed as I performed the experiment so there would be no doubt as to what the #'s were when I posted this.

For example:

Travel Biscuits ( 3 cereal + 8 hide )
3 cereal = Gilcha (Corellian Wild Corn) OQ 166/ PE 508
8 Hide = Akle (Corellian Wooly Hide) OQ 79

Great Success!
Experimental Flavor and texture - 15%
Experimental Nutritional Value - 11%
Experimental Quantity - 1%

Stats Provided
Uses - 3

constitution: +33, 92s

Experimenting!
1 point - quantity Critical failure *cry*
2nd point - value : gr. success 18% - constitution +41, 92s (gr. suc gives 7% increase)
3rd point - value : gr. success 25% - con + 46, 92s ( gr. suc gives 7% increase)
4th point - value : gr. success 29% - con + 48,92s (gr. suc only gives 4% ?! what the heck?)
5th point - value : gr. success 32% - con + 48, 92s (gr. suc only gives 3% ?! what the heck?)
6th point - value : gr. success 35% - con + 48, 92s
7th point - value : gr. success 38% - con + 48, 92s

9th point - Flavor : gr. suc 22% - con + 48, 103s
10th point - Flavor : gr. suc 24% - con + 48m 103s gr. suc only gives 2% ?! what the heck?)

Oki that sucked lets try something else!

Spiced Tea (5 water + 2 organics + 4 mineral)

9th point - flavor -

well I lost connection right at the end ... oki 1 more for the sake of accuracy in science (or something like that

Oki lets try a different combinations

Oki, that’s enough typing for now. I just wanted to have some actual Numbers to go with my post to validate my statement that food crafting is bugged.

For those of you who have never progressed beyond high school math there is such a thing as a function that is not first order (not a strait line). There is no reason to expect that a "Great Success" always translates into the same percent increase. In fact, it appears that the current quality is a factor in how much of an increase you get. Additionally, the "Great Success" message almost surely matches a range of values for the the percent increase that is in turn independant of the current quality factor.

Yeah I could probably sit down with a huge amount of resources and experiment until I had the exact function but I do enough of that in real life and don't need to spend my relaxation determining a function that can be changed in the next patch. Its not like the laws of nature in SWG are fixed.

Just because you' re not getting the results you expect doesn't mean that it is a bug. Hell by that definition, Quantum Mechanics is an indicator that reality is seriously bugged.

The only real bug I can see is the one time you got a moderate success and received no increase but the action stat actually went down. I can see the % not increasing, because maybe a moderate increase at that point only raised it something like .2% which was rounded back down to 0. The bug would be the action points bonus dropping on a success.

Look at it this way. Say the most you can raise a value by is 30% (assuming you used 10 points and all results were great successes, just throwing out numbers here...) By your reasoning, you would expect that each 1 point experimentation with a great success result would bump it up 3% until the 10th one got you to your 30% max. But it seems to work more along the lines of this.

1st point +9%

2nd point +6%

3rd point +3%

4th point +3%

5th point +2%

6th point +2%

7th point +2%

8th point +1%

9th point +1%

10th point +1%

So both ways you get to your 30% max, but with the second way, there is a larger increase with the 1st few points, but then you get to a point of diminishing returns. This is the was it seems to work, but like Null, I don't have the time to try and figure out what the exact formula is. I do agree with you though that the stat bonus shouldn't drop on any type of success, even if it results in a 0% gain.

And Null, QM is correct. Reality is completly bugged. I want my refund.

So you are saying that 1+1 doesn't equal 2? and that an increase in overall % shouldnt give a positive result but can give a negative result?

what math is that?
