Alright, my goal is to get to Business 3 so I can operate a vendor. Now this is where I"m lost. How exactly do I get there? I bought a crafting tool but I'm not really sure what to do with no resources. It doesnt allow me to sample or survey resources. It informs me that i need a tool, which I thought I had...?

So it boils down to, what exactly do I need to do to build xp for my quest for the holy vendor?

buy a surveying device from someone preferably mineral from there you can gather resources to make anything including other tools craft a lot and get 4.5k crafting xp for lvls 1,2,3 of business for a vendor

Yes. The crafting tool allows you to build something, but to sample and find resources you need a survey tool.

Either buy one or have someone make you one.
