Thread: noob problems
It is a certainty that new artisans cannot make very many sellable items. The best items for selling at those levels are weapon power-ups--muzzles are ideal as they give the most xp for the least work, and are usable by everyone. Basic camp sets are also a possibility. Both of these items likely aren't worth much more than 50cs, and it will cost you 20cs to post them. It's tough to make creds this way, but it's also true that you don't really need money at this time, except to buy some resources.
To get some cash for this, take delivery missions as mentioned above. Look for 2 missions with destinations in the same city. Missions across the planet pay more. The Corellia Bel Vistal-Kor Vella run pays 500-600 for each mission, the shuttle costs 120cs, so you can generate several k quickly doing this. Buy some copper, and make powerups. Give them away in the main city squares, you will gain user xp for this. I went up the Enginering tree, and then started making bone armor and giving it out.
This leads to the other recommendation--take the scout and marksman skill trees as well. You can then kill beasties, andharvest the bone and hides you will need to make the armor. Do not set up harvesters until you are ready to spend time maintaining them, and have some ready cash as well. Make sure that when you do set them up you put them near each other! When you get enough combat xp to handle destroy missions, you can easily pay the maintenance by taking 2 destroy missions near your harvesters. The missions will more than pay the maintenance fees for a day or 2, but the reality is that you will need to take time off of crafting to maintain your harvesters. Eventually you should be able to sell part of your resources, and the harvesters will pay for themselves this way. There is no question that it will take you a long time to get to one of the elite crafting professions, unless you are a really dedicated grinder. I found that I like selling resources and combat better than crafting, and stopped at eng IV, where I can make full sets of bone armor, and all the harvesters I need.
can someone help me, i just started the game, am playing as an artisan but find it very frustrating for 2 reasons.
1 Gaining XP is nearly impossible, i go out looking for resources with which to craft, then to find enough % i normally end up running into guys who attack me on site or when i find an area, sampling nets me 2-4 resources every few seconds and only 30-40 surveying XP, i have been playing for 3 days now and still don't have enough general crafting XP to advance one of the initial skills
2 I can't sell any of my stuff, all i can do is put it up for auction, and i never know how much simple items should sell for, such as blasters, or handles.
It's diffecult to sell your stuff as a new artisian. I've been playing this game for about 10 days now and I've all survey and engenering-skills. But it is a long way.
The best you can do is to survey, get samples and crafting. You can practice crafting and the craftingstations in town or you can just try to use different resources to see what effect it is on the item. You can't be a millionaire in a few days. If you want money (actually you dont need money yet in the game) you can go on missions. As an artisian I suggest that you take delivery missions. I do this that I go on local missions. Eg. missions who gives 70-80 cr. I take 2 in the same city and after 2 minutes I have 150 cr. When I doing this for an hour then I can have 3500 cr. Now I have 2 harvesters and one wind-harvester so I need the money badley ;o)
A good thing to do is get scout. And then you do this: build a camp. survey in the camp and while you are surveing you craft. As a scout you can harvest bones, meat and hide from the animals you kill.
I've self taken all the professions as a novice but is advancing in weapon/scouting. My plan is to be a weaponsmith but there is a long way.
If you hit Ctrl-A you see a commandwindow. Select macro and new. Type: /stand; /sample; /pause 420; /sit; /pause 240;
and this macro are you setting on a hotkey (shift f1 eg) then you can getting samples by pressing Shift F1.
Any questions then just ask..
