How much GXP do you need? Currently an architect though looking at tinkering with weapons. Thanks

21,000 I believe if you're referring to simply Novice Weaponsmith.

I know this issue has been discussed many a time. But i'm grinding for novice weaponsmith and i hear that bone armor chest plates is a great way but the thing is HIDE AND BONE AREN'T CHEAP. So should i mission and sell for money to get hide and bone or should i just grind powerups and such? Any answers apprciated.

I grinded survey tools. They just use metal.

I never liked the bone armor thing. I think people who do it just feel a better sense of accomplishment from grinding them. I'm pretty sure survey tools and crafting tools are more efficient.

I ground crafting tools... it's surprising how fast you'll hit novice weaponsmith really... the tough question is what to grind once you're weaponsmith(of course the answers are on the weaponsmith forum)... it takes a LOT more time to get through those skills.

I personally took scouting as a side gig and re-arranged my stats a bit. I harvested all my hide and bone myself. Plus, the scouting xp was nice to boost my exploration skills... allowing me to travel up and down the hillsides more efficiently. That helped when I was getting waylaid by mobs while I was surveying and not paying attention Nothing like a little speed boost when running away like a frightened child, lol.

I actually found that crafting bone armor was more efficient than any thing else in general crafting. Figure that crafting tools give you about 60 some odd XP. Chest Plates give you 500 some odd XP. To make a chest plate you have to craft 3 Fiberplast Panels, then 1 Bone Armor Segment, and then the Chest Plate. This is 5 grinds for 500+ XP. Do the same 5 grinds for a crafting tool and you get 300+ XP. I feel the Bone Armor is worth it.

If you are just starting out, ... make tools till you can get Eng II and Dom Arts I. Make Bone Boots till Eng III. Then make Bone Leggings till Eng IV. After that, make Chest Plates till you're Novice Elite. This has proved to be much faster than anything I have tried before.

Trust me. I went through Eng IV, Dom Arts IV, and Novice WeaponSmith grinding only power-ups because someone said that was the easiest way to do it. When I reached WeaponSmith, I hated everyting about crafting. I changed career goals and surrendered all my skills in Artisan. Weeks later, being fed up with the complete lack of Weaponsmiths, I took up the profession again. I took me 2 and a half weeks to reach Novice Weaponsmith when I grinded Powerups. I made Novice Weaponsmith in 2 days using the Bone Armor method.

I definately feel crafting Bone Armor is worth every component to grind.
