Thread: Another way to archieve the goal of schematic revocation

What was said in the FAQ a couple of month ago was that higher level artisans would not be able to do everything without smaller artisan's help. When going reaching higher levels of artisanship, you would loose some schematics, and you'd have to get some items from a lower level artisan in order to make some items.

This was to enforce crafting associations, and interdependancy, but has been abandonned during beta.

Well I loved the concept ofinterdependancy, but I hardly see any trace of it right now in the game.

A good way to make a good schematic revocation would be to make it volontary.

The idea would be to make the datapad store schematics the same way it stores waypoints. You have a limited number of schematics (the size of a schematic could depend on complexity for example, to be balanced). When people are out of schematic space, they can delete some schematics to get new, advanced ones.

This would make players have to have a choice : take just the schematics they need to build some objects, but not all objects (for a solo crafter) or concentrate on a certain type of object, finished object or componment, and depend on other players with the complementary skills to archieve a finished object.

for example : as an architect, I can concentrate on data like wall structures, storage componds, etc.. and no type of houses, and depend on someone with the final house schematics, or make just some kind of houses from one end to another.

With this system, you can go on with the solo crafting, but group crafting leads to a wider variety of objects. That means a bit of organisation is required to make all the items aviable, which was the original goal of schematic revocation I believe.

Now to prevent some arguments you may oppose me : You could be taught schematics from friends or from the trainer if you ever need a schematic you deleted.

I know people will tend to delete fireworks, dices, etc... first. This is not a problem to me. You will always have artisans in training, and this will give them almost the exclusivity of those items, and will maybe make the artisan profession more fun, as right now you can't sell any of them, as people ask higher level crafters they know to make them.

And you could also imagine artisans crafting datapads. Experimentation on a datapad would change the amount of data stored inside. You also have the architect's data terminal, which can store schematics. You can then exchange some schematics between your datapad and the data terminal to increase your capacity.

So data capacity would be a new asset of crafting. A good artisan would have several ways to get a hudge number of schematics.

I know this system is quite difficult to put into practice right now. It's very hard to implement, but I'm just saying my idea, and hope it will be taken into consideration.

What do you all think of that ?
