Thread: Picking up harvesters

OK, I've planted my first batch of harvesters and I'm bringing in the resources. However, in a couple days when the resources shift, I'm going to have to move them. I dont' see an item to pick them up though. Is that the destroy option? Or is it something I'm missing on the other options?

I know you have to have a minimum amount of maintenance to pick them up, but what happens to the maint & power you have in it, does it go away when you plant it back down?

Use the destroy option. If youhave at least 1500 credits in the personalharvester (3000 for wind generators) you will attomatically reclaim the deed when you destroy the harvester. You will lose all power and maintenance credits.

It is almost never worth it to reclaim the deed on harvesters. Just buy or build a new one.

Eege,

Yes, you did luck out But I have noticed a few spots that seemed to be more prone to resource convergence as you've noticed. It will take more observation to realize whether this is in fact just coincidence, or a function of the resource system.

This method is in fact what I use to mine off world, when I'm not sure when resources spawn. If you can find a convergence of resources, you cut down your risk of placing your harvester on a nearly depleted concentration.

If you're harvesting minerals or organics, there will probably be a new resource with a high concentration in the area. Of course the problem is that it may not be a resource useful for you.

And with respect to power, you're always screwed.

Well, right now I've got one of my harvesters parked in a spot with ~60% steel, ~60% aluminum, 58% carbonate ore, and ~90% unknown solid petrochemical. I've been switching back and forth between the different items, but if they're still there today, I think I'll stick down another one.

actually, depending on how much you value your resources, you may want to redeed your harvesters instead.

Maybe it's just dumb luck on where I placed then, but every time I have a resource switch, I check the harvester mining options and there is normally something else of value to harvest out of the same machine. May be Aluminum one week, steel the next, copper the third, etc. but always have something to harvest. Did I just luck out here?

Spelter,

They may not be useful to you, but they may be useful to someone else
