Work your way up the engineering tree.
Once you can make generic crafting tools, sell those to keep the cash coming in.
Grind harvesters to get master artisan.
The big money is in the master craftsman professions, like weapons and armor (so I hear).

Nothing in artisan is really worth it for money-making. Artisan is a base class, a gateway to the elite classes. It is not ment to be a big money-maker. Grind through and get a real class. I'm a master armorsmith and have made over 4 mil selling armor.

Powerups, Powerups, Powerups!
While it requires an investment the right kind of ranged or melee weapon powerup can sell at very nice profit.
You will however need good materials (High OQ) and possibly a factory (Equipment type). Get Eng IV as soon as possible to provide personal harvesters as well as survey skills. I reccomend survey missons for easy credits while skilling up and building your stake.

Have a look on your local bazaar and see what's missing. I found that even low-level artisan clothes sold pretty well for me (always in black!) - doesn't make you as much xp or money wind generators or harvestors, but the market is often flooded with them anyhow.
Depends whether you're in a hurry to get through artisan or not, really.
