I'm a new artisan, and I was wondering how you could make items in bulk, instead of making a billion prototypes. Thanks.

Buy a factory for the type of things you want to make, go to a crafting station make a blueprint, schimatic or **edit** its called. go to your factory put it in, drop the resources in the hopper, the same you used for the blueprint and the ammount you need for the items, and start it up.

Yes, If you plan on using a factory to grind your way up the skill tree I wouldn't recommend it. It's expensive and inefficient, so I'd just do it the old fashioned way, by hand.

Factories are meant for professions where you build items that require either identical items or large amounts of the same kind of item. Good for medics and such to make stimpacks and architects to make structure modules.

So do you have to have the same quality of resource in the factory as the draft schematic, or can you put any kind as long as it is steel for instance?

Whatever you use to make the schematic is EXACTLY what it will take to produce the item in the factory.

Example: you construct a schematic for a cdef pistol using 15 units of Metal X and 6 units of chemical Y. When you to to produce more of them in a factory, you will need those same stuff. Lets say you want 100 cdef pistols (I have actually done exactly this for a smuggler who needed slicing xp ). You will need 1500 units of Metal X and 600 units of Chemical Y to make them. If metal X is ditanium steel and chemical y is fiberplast... well, you can't put just any ditanium and fiber in, it HAS TO BE Metal x and chemical y.

The reason for this is the quality of resources going into an item determine its experimentation values. If you were allowed to throw just any resource in the factory, you could make an awesome schematic with great resources and then use any old junk to reproduce it. And that, sir, is just not right.

Cheers

This may sound odd but, the less you wear (less encumbered you are) The less you lose from your HAM while you survey and sample. Don't get all armored up, is what I'm trying to say.

Hope it helps. Welcome to Artisan

Search around the message boards for the macros. Thats what I did and it still took some trial and error to get one working right. As for wood I think you can survey for wood using the Flora surveying device.. I have never looked for woodbefore though so I'm not 100% certain. but i think its flora.
