Thread: Heavy / Medium harvestors ???
High extraction heavies used to take extra maintenance money. This is no longer the case.
A medium takes twice the maintenance of the small, and the large takes three times. Comes out to 1500, 3000, and 4500 per day.Power-wise it's 600, 1200, 1800.
So if 3000 per day gets you an extraction rate of 10, and 4500 gets you 13, you can see that running heavies is more expensive per resources. However, the extra 3 points of extraction rate allow you to retrieve more of a particular resource while it is available. For rare, valuable resources, it is crucial to get as much as possible in the shortest period of time.
So it is really up to you what "better" means . maintenance cost vs extraction efficiency.
Furthermore, mediums and heavies take roughly the same amount of space. They are notorious for being hard to place in hilly environments. The personals, however slow they are, still hold the crown for most flexible in matters of placement.

I think I may purchaseone heavy and a couple of new mediums with the highest extraction rate. Right now I haveseven medium, fivewith extraction of 7, one with extraction of 4 and one with extraction of 2 (I think this is a medium) anyone want it

Your power numbers are right, but the maintenance is off. Personals run at 30 credits/hour, which is 720 per day. Mediums are 1440 per day, and heavies are 2160 per day. You'velisted the re-deed cost, which is 50 hours of maintenance.

Medium uses 1 lot how many lots does a Heavy use?
Also is the heavy better than the medium? I was told that the medium was better about a month ago is this still the case?

New maximum extraction rates for harvesters are:
Small 4
Medium 10
Large 13
All take one lot. Power harvesters (wind, solar, fusion) have different values.
