Are these supposed to be available for anyone to use, or Artisan only? Just I thought I read somewhere earlier they were Artisan only, however I noticed they work fine with my alt.

Only Artisans can make them. But if it works like the Repair Tools, anyone can use them.

To let other people paint your bike, if you don't have a paint kit yourself.

Wouldn't it be easier just to trade the kit with them. They can pick their own colors then.

I would be guessing the major differance between Artisan/Non Artisan would be the # of colors that you could chose, I remember making my first peice of clothing going....OHHH there must be more colors....I am not sure, With the Alt char, did you notice any lesser color pallet?

Wasn't paying that close attention to the number of available colors. I'll check that next time I use some kits.

Ok, lets clarify this:

When the patch hit TC first, the vehicles customization kits were a Master Artisan-only item. Only Master artisans could use them, so they need people to /consent them in order to allow them to paint their bikes

After asking to the community, vehicle customization kits were changed so everyone could use the, So there is no need for /consent anymore.

The colors available are the same for everyone.

Pity paint fades so quickly. That customization kit you bought? Plan on reapplying it every couple of days...

Sorry if this isn't the correct spot to post this, but did I read the schematic right? As a master artisan (freshly mastered this evening) I can now make speeders all by my lonesome, but to make the customization kits I need to get components (Droid Storage Module) from a Droid Engineer?

Excuse me?

You sure I shouldn't be getting some painters pants from a tailor as well?

/shrug

Not trying to take business away from DEs, but I can MAKE the complete vehicle but I can't PAINT IT without help? And why a Droid Storage Module anyway (other than to require MA's to buy stuff from DEs)? I personally think my Painters Pants ideamakes more sense if they just wanted to force an out-of-profession component into the schematic.

I'm really sick of some of the (in my opinion anyway) stupid component requirements - to make a DL20 rifle (Novice Marksman certificate, Novice Weaponsmith schematic) requires a component you don't get until Ranged Weapon Crafting 1 - the same box you get the REPLACEMENT for the DL20 rifle schematic (which you only need 1000 rifle xp to get certified in also).

And they wonder why no one makes/uses so many of the weapons...
