Thread: Best type of power collector for static?

What is the best type of Power collector for a static spot.


I dont wanna run around surveying all the time so gonna leave a few in one spot and want to know what is best.


I would assume wind or solar, but not sure of the abundancy of rersources.

None of the Power Generators are the good for Static Placement. Chemical or Flora Harvesters are the best, imo.

Static placement? Good luck with that... recources shift so much and so often. I can imagine ya migh tget luck with a static mineral harvetsor for a while always having something on the "resources available" list to pull. Even with a BER 10 MedI hate pulling anything under 70%.

20+% of the Harvesters are static. Chemical and Flora will almost always have something to pull at a decent concentration. Minerals will usually have something. Energy and Gas are pure luck.

These other people seem to have missed the word power in your post. I assume you meant you want to collect something that will power your resource harvesters. I have never used solar, but both solar and wind always have one and only one type of resource available on any given planet. Chances are the spot your harvester is in will have some of that resource it can pull... finding an area completely devoid of either is rare. The good news is that one wind harvester on a 35% deposit will pull enough to keep about five mineral harvesters running full time, so you don't actually need to find a higher concentration, unless you are pulling it for sale...

I definitely wouldn't go for a chem harvester, because most of the machines, if not all, will simply refuse to recognize the "fuel" they harvest as energy. It's useful for making things, and maybe it will be needed to run starships, but you can't use it for harvesters. Radioactives will run a harvester, but you have no guarantee there will be any radioactives.

Like I said, there is always one kind of wind, and one kind of solar. Wind generators cost less. So if you want to harvest "power" without moving the harvesters around a lot,then I'd go with wind generators. Just my two galactic credits.

I'd say use mineral harvestors. Just change them over to some other mineral if there isn't a good concentration of radioactives under them

wind generator. the spread of the resource is in a HUGE area. more likely than not, youll always have some wind coming in.


ive had a wind generator down for about a month in a single spot... was 28%.. then 17% ... now with this spawn its 73% =) so i put more wind generators down.

Wind. Be sure to get at least rate 8. I've seen some master make rate 9, max i think.

Yea, the Wind maxes at 9 and the solar at 8. I agree with the other posts that Wind is probably the best bet for static energy, but it's still a matter of luck.
