The green bars are calculated by the resource Stats Multiplied by the percentage of the material resource statistic.
for example i am a weapon smith and a scout blaster schematic uses the Overall quality 50% and Conductivity 50%
so lets say that a steel i'm using has an OQ of 900 and a Conductivity of 700so the math involed will look like this
(900 x 0.5 = 450) + (700 x 0.5 = 350) = 800 the 800 is the stat that will determine the quality ( the damage spd and such) of the item.
Did that help?

After I hit "done experimenting", a box flashes on the screen saying I have one experiment point to use yet I cannot get it to where I can use it. Am I missing something or doing something wrong? Let me know please.

For some items or combination of resources, it is possible to reach your maximum achievable experimentation result with fewer experimentation points than you have. So if you had 8 points of experimentation, but you had reached your best possible result after spending 5 of those points, you wouldn't be able to spend the other 3 points. Once you start crafting more complicated items, this won't be a problem. Weapons can have experimentationfor damage, speed, durability, and probably something else as well. Just making a simple reinforced combat staff, Imight have been able to use about 20 points of experimentation on the different parameters, so some crafters have to decide where to spend those experimentation points. Architects making heavy harvesters can experiment on the BER and the hopper size; most folks naturally experiment on the BER first, and then put any leftover points into the hopper size. It's the hopper size where a 12 point architect can show the difference.
