I've been playing less then 6 hours and want to be an artisan. Im planning on being a master architect and not sure what else. I understand that I need to get surveying to level 4 before I do anything else craft wise, but I have a question. Right now I'm working on level 3 surveying and Im getting 6-8 units of the item and generally 20-50 exp per yeild. It's really variable, most of the time being 35ish xp. Is this what I should be getting, or should I be getting more? Is there a specific thing I should be surveying? thanks for the help.

Just find the highest concentration of something and dig for it. Generally, the more you dig up, the more xp you'll get. It varies, tho.

I've often found that it's pretty easy to find very high concentrations of chemicals.

You can't hand sample wind and solar.

DO NOT sample radioactive.
