Apologies if this has been asked and answered before.
Why am I no longer able to make schematics for this item? At one time I made a great many crates of these, and now need to replenish the supply, but find I can only make one item at a time.
I'm Master DE and Master Artisan, so someone please point out what I'm obviously missing!
Thanks in advance!

Where are you looking for them?
They should be in the Ship crafting tool now. They used to be in the Generic crafting tool, but they were moved a while back.
I just checked on Test Center and it's still under the Ship tool.

Why? Making a Ship Crafting Tool is easy enough.

Sure making the tool is, but not everyone wants to gat and have a Ship Crafting Station in their house, which is what is needed to produce schematics.

Just borrow someone else's tool to make the schematic and select 1000 uses for the schematic. That should last a while... or just spend a few bucks and buy your own Ship Crafting Station.

ummm, everyone forget about all those starship stations all around the starports? You can use those to make the schematics. No need to buy a private station.
no not forgot but was honestly thinking you needed a private station to make schematics myself.
I actually encourage everyone to get one of each tool and station
{I have a public house with them for free use and my own workshop carries a full set}

I just like the look of all of them together and it helps knowing I have them on hand 'in case'

But wouldn't that require that I have at least Novice Shipwright? In order to get that, I'd have to give up what little Pistol skills I have, and that's all that stands between me and getting killed by a dyslexic Chuba!

As the other poster said, you don't need shipwright. The Ship Repair Kit is certified to Master Artisan. Don't let the fact that it uses a space tool throw you.
You have to use a structure tool for personal harvesters, a food/chem tool for artisan foods, and a clothing/armor tool for artisan clothes, this is no different.
There is only a subset of things available on the generic tool.
The well equipped Artisan has at least one of every tool.
